What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of naturopathic practices with ancient roots that uses needles to stimulate energy paths (meridians) of the body to improve the flow of energy (Qi) and restore balance and health to the body. In Balsam Clinic, we use evidence-based acupuncture needling in both traditional (Chinese) and Western techniques efficiently in different indications.
Western medicine is becoming more and more open to this ancient practice, and over the past several decades, acupuncture has been looked upon as a favorable alternative to treating many conditions. The World Health Organisation lists a wide variety of diseases or disorders for which acupuncture therapy has been tested in controlled clinical trials with positive evidence base, including pain, cancer, pregnancy, stroke, mood disorders, sleep disorders and inflammation.
